Civil Rights, Second Amendment on Trial Following Pretti Death

Alex Pretti’s shooting death while in Customs and Border Patrol custody has prompted renewed debates over American gun owners and weapons carry rights under the Second Amendment.
Onlookers compared Pretti’s case to the Kenosha Unrest Shooting on August 25, 2020, where Kyle Rittenhouse, a then-teenager, fatally shot a protester who had attacked him at a Black Lives Matter protest in the area.
As with the case of Alex Pretti, the Kenosha Shooting sparked heated political debate. Kenosha residents came together in protest against ICE. Kenosha Students Protest Against ICE.
In the Rittenhouse case, the American Civil Liberties Union called for the Kenosha law enforcement to be held accountable.

When challenged directly about Alex Pretti, Rittenhouse responded:
“I wasn’t aware of ever making comments about Pretti’s death,” Rittenhouse continued to defend his stance on the Second Amendment, stating that he believes in the right of national constitutional carry.
