Why Celebrity Support Failed Kamala Harris in 2024

For the past four days, Democrats have been doing hours of finger-pointing and soul-searching as they try to find answers for how Kamala Harris lost the 2024 presidential election to her opponent, Donald Trump.

This has caused the Democratic party to rethink many things about its very existence and whether they’ve completely lost touch with working-class workers. One of the things that makes this debatable is the A-list celebrity endorsements and whether they help presidential campaigns.

Kamala Harris had numerous celebrity supporters during her campaign. From Beyonce to Lady Gaga and even Oprah Winfrey, multiple celebrities endorsed Kamala Harris for president. However, for Kamala, it didn’t help one bit, and she ended up losing to Donald Trump on election day.

This has caused many democrats to realize that celebrity appearances and endorsements don’t help the candidate connect with voters but instead cause them to be more distant because it reinforces the belief of elitism.

“Somehow we think if Beyoncé is on stage, that will solve all our problems,” A Democratic strategist stated in MSM. “What people don’t realize is that it actually makes it worse. It reinforces this perception that we are the party of elites, that we don’t understand what working-class folks are going through.”

Even though Donald Trump himself had celebrities such as Elon Musk and even Hulk Hogan at his rallies, he still portrayed himself as someone who’s against elitism and his messaging on the economy and inflation connected with working-class voters.

“Trump’s stance of being against elites, and his supporters are not elitists and fighting against elitists — that messaging came out of his campaign,” Associate Professor Jennifer Brubaker stated. In conclusion, democrats realized too late that celebrities are not politicians.
