Election Day Reflections: Harris’ Call for Peaceful Transfer of Power

It was a tough day for Harris supporters, last night on election day. Donald Trump won the election, and many of her supporters were left speechless.

Kamala Harris went to Howard University and gave a heartfelt concession speech to her supporters and the country. “Now, I know folks are feeling and experiencing a range of emotions right now,” Kamala stated in an MSNBC article.

“I get it, but we must accept the results of this election. Earlier today, I spoke with President-elect Trump and congratulated him on his victory. I also told him that we will help him and his team with their transition, and that we will engage in a peaceful transfer of power.”

This concession speech became more than a typical concession speech. It was a redemption concession speech because Kamala Harris did the one thing that Donald Trump never did in 2020: admit that she lost an election, conceded to an election, congratulated her opponent, and agreed to a peaceful transfer of power.

This is something that’s been a tradition in politics for decades, and for the first time since the 2020 presidential election decency and civilized sportsmanship came back into the scene.

“During her concession speech at Howard University Wednesday afternoon, Vice President Kamala Harris brought back from the dead one of America’s most storied traditions: presidential candidates accepting the results of an electoral defeat, urging their supporters to do the same and promising to cooperate with the incoming administration.” Senior Editor Anthony L. Fisher stated in the MSNBC article.

Even though her speech received some boos from the audience, it also received many cheers as well. Being able to concede an election, is very important for democracy to prevail.
