The Political Forces that Could Determine a Trump or Harris Landslide

With one day left before the 2024 presidential election, the race remains close between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris. It’s important to keep in mind that the current poll numbers, don’t accurately predict who the next president will be.

What they can do is represent consistent factors that currently make the race the way it is, and they can also determine the factors that could potentially help a candidate proceed to victory. There have been many factors that have defined the 2024 election, and these factors could project a Trump or Harris victory.

The first factor is the gender gap between men and women. Throughout the 2024 election cycle, there’s been an enormous consistency with the gender gap between men and women, when it comes to Donald Trump and Kamala Harris. A recent NBC poll shows that Donald Trump is performing better with men, while Kamala Harris is performing better with women.

“The latest national NBC News poll shows Trump winning men by 18 percentage points and Harris carrying women by 16 points — a combined 34-point gender gap, up from 30 points in October’s NBC News poll.” Political Editor Mark Murray stated in an NBC article.

Another factor is the political issues that the candidates perform better on among voters. In this case, polls show that Kamala Harris performs better with abortion, while Donald Trump performs better on inflation. Mark Murray explains how Kamala’s substantial advantage on abortion proves to be a strong motivating issue for voters. While Donald Trump’s strength on the economy, inflation, and immigration proves to be a strong motivator for voters as well.

Tomorrow, people will go out to vote which factors matter more for the presidency.
