Justice Department Warns Musk Over Voter Contest Legality

The business mogul may be in hot water as the Justice Department warns him that his recent American PAC giveaway geared toward registered voters in swing states may be illegal.

The Harris-Biden Justice Department’s public integrity section, issued a letter to Elon Musk, stating that his $1 million dollar giveaway that was aimed to increase registered voters in the swing states may have broken a federal law of paying citizens to vote in the upcoming presidential election.

“Whoever … pays or offers to pay or accepts payment either for registration to vote or for voting shall be fined not more than $10,000 or imprisoned not more than five years, or both,” the federal code declares.

After the July 13th attempted assassination attack against the former president, Musk publicly endorsed Trump and formed the American PAC, which aims to help increase the number of voters in the seven swing states such as Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.

“We want to try to get over a million, maybe 2 million voters in the battleground states to sign the petition in support of the First and Second Amendment,” Musk said during Saturday’s Harrisburg, Pennsylvania Trump campaign event.

“We are going to be awarding $1 million randomly to people who have signed the petition, every day, from now until the election,” he continued.

According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, the first three American PAC contest winners who are alleged registered Republicans have already received their $1 million prize during a number of town halls.

As Musk continued to push his support for the Trump campaign through the assistance of his American PAC contest, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro suggested that the contest was illegal, and advised the authorities to investigate it.

“I think there are real questions with how [Musk] is spending money in this race. How the dark money is flowing, not just into Pennsylvania but apparently now into the pockets of Pennsylvanians,” Shapiro said. “That is deeply concerning,” he continued.

The three recent American PAC contest winners voted before receiving their winnings at the number of town hall meetings, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.
