Can Kamala Harris Regain Lead Over Trump Before Election?

It feels like only yesterday that President Joe Biden dropped out of the presidential race, and Kamala Harris stepped in his place. Since then, Kamala Harris has been on a momentous positive streak with gaining voters, money, endorsements from celebrities, and even gaining support from long-time Republicans who traditionally support the republican nominee.

Now with two weeks before election day, could it be that the Kamala Harris momentum is finally dwindling? Recently, in surveys and polls, Kamala Harris has been losing her lead over Donald Trump to the point where she’s beating him by a single point.

“Harris is up one point, 45% to 44%, in a USA Today/Suffolk University poll of likely voters taken Oct. 14-18 (margin of error 3.1), as Trump has narrowed the margins since the groups’ last poll taken in August that found Harris ahead by five points.” Staff Writer Sara Dorn stated in a Forbes article.

It’s also important to know that in a FiveThirtyEight election forecast, Donald Trump is 53 times more likely to win than Kamala Harris, who is 47 times more likely to win. Even the debate showed worrying signs of Kamala’s once-energized momentum beginning to slip. “Pre-debate surveys found Harris’ polling surge appeared to plateau, including an NPR/PBS/Marist survey of registered voters taken Sept. 3-5 that showed Harris leading Trump 49% to 48%, down from a three-point lead in August,” Sara states.

What could be causing Kamala to lose her edge? One possibility is the gender gap in which one candidate has a higher lead than the other. According to Newsweek, Donald Trump has a higher lead among men, while Kamala Harris has a higher lead among women. Let’s see if that changes as we move forward.
