Recently, in Chicago, a Chicago City Council meeting took place where people voted unanimously to reject Mayor Brandon Johnson’s proposal of a $300 million property tax hike.
Locals gave their statements to criticize Brandon for attempting to raise taxes while catering to illegal immigrants. During the council meeting, there were angry Trump supporters who also gave their statements about the matter.
“The feds need to address you! The DOJ needs to address you! And hopefully Donald Trump will address you, because you’re gonna protect the undocumented, while you’re gonna allow for the citizens in Chicago suffer under your, what? Three percent?”
Chicago resident Tyjuan Sims stated in The New York Post. Residents of Chicago have expressed their frustration with Mayor Brandon Johnson, in terms of the policies that take taxpayer money to help benefit illegal immigrants that took over the city in recent years.
Hundreds of millions of taxpayer money were used to feed, clothe, and house more than 35,000 migrants that were transported to its suburbs in the previous year and a half. “They’re junking up our country. And yeah, we feel some kind of way about it because it’s our country,” one Chicago resident stated.
“We’re going to get them out of our communities because they don’t deserve to be there.” There was a historic total of 50 City Council members who voted against Brandon’s $300 million tax hike that would have increased the expenses of Chicago homeowners by four percent.
According to The Chicago Sun-Times, there was more to this voting decision. “The unanimous vote was largely symbolic. Negotiations to reduce or eliminate the property tax increase and replace it with a mix of new revenue and reprogrammed federal pandemic relief funds began last weekend.”
